Question Time

What’s one thing you wish we would make?

Let us know because you never know…it just might happen .

I’d like a proper Helico made of titanium.

Too many things.

  1. A device to repair a screw/bolt thread after cross-threading.
  2. As a cyclist (albeit, now aging) a set of hex tools but not like I’ve ever seen so they don’t rust out (coating like ceracoat?) and small.
  3. A torque wrench.
  4. Something like “metrinch” tools, where the force is applied to the flat (land) of the surface and not the corners. Instead of 1 cam, I think 2 cams (on either side of the corners) would be much better.
  5. A decent quality hand-drill and pin-vice drill. Better if the hand drill could handle really fine bits, like a pin-vice.
  6. The worldwide standardization of threads (unc, bsw, bea, …).

This is just 5 minutes but I now have to attend to real life.

Apprentice Human,

It’s safe to say you’ve definitely given this some thought! I’ll share this list with the rest of the team. Feel free to share any other ideas you have, we’d love to hear them all! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Apprentice Human,

For #2 see: https://daysaver.fun/>

#3: https://silca.cc/collections/mobile-repair-1/products/t-ratchet-ti-torque-kit-2nd-generation >(I’d still like to see an improvement on that)

I’m w/ you on #5 — haven’t been able to justify getting a Bridge City Tool Works drill (Did get their recent PB-2 Palm Brace), but I need something smaller for the scale of work which I do (2mm holes for using bamboo skewers as hinges is typical).

WillAdams,

Thanks but…

#2: I have the DaySaver items but I’m hoping MetMo comes up with something more unique. And while they are good I went back to my titanium set for my long rides.

#3. And I have a number of torque wrenches (one for my car, two for bike, don’t ask). Again, I’m hoping Peg and the crew can produce something that is more interesting than the items you generally see.

I’m in a 1-bedroom apartment so Bridge City Tool Works is just out. Great stuff but too big. But if I was to go for something like that I’d probably start with the smaller items from https://www.sawstop.com/>. It’s great safety and great technology.

Peg,

When I have time I’d like to describe some other things. Like a better nail puller.

WillAdams,

thanks and noted
