Received my pockets drivers and the build quality is great, of course. I find it odd that it comes with two, slightly different phillips heads. Why no flathead bit?
Hi, thanks for your question!
We actually did a survey back in May in our Kickstarter update #2 for the 2 bits to include with the Pocket Driver.
The winners were announced in our next update and they were the PZ2 and PH2. Sorry if you would’ve been a flathead voter ![]()
I see! Yes I must have missed that one but I appreciate the reasoning!
As noted, there was a vote.
The thing is, to get a good fit, one needs a fair number of slotted screwdriver bits — here’s a photo of what I consider a minimum:
and I have a lot more.
I see.. it makes sense that it would be difficult to land on just ONE size to include with a Philips. Thanks for this insight!
This difficulty is actually the cause for typical flat head screwdrivers to be wedge shaped — the justification is that it allows them to fit a wider range of screw slots, and one can have a reasonable number for all screws — if one is willing to accept a sloppy fit.
I don’t understand the reasoning. Isn’t a possibly sloppy fit better than not having a bit at all? Of course it will not fit perfectly in every flat head screw. Who would expect it to? No other screwdriver does.
