Safely arrived!
and it is quite nice, and I’ve already put it to work:
(cleaning up some parts for a new dust shoe after cutting).
Next up is working out how to store all the extra bits (since I wasn’t able to justify the portfolio leather case and metal case set) ---- that said, if the full portfolio leather case does make it into the shop for purchase, I may not be able to resist a second.
One further thought — have you considered making a pencil-only variant for 2mm pencil lead? With a plastic body it could be wonderfully light…
Further thoughts:
- I’d love to see a leather case optimized around the Stubster (and esp. one where it was easier to get at the tool ---- rather a challenge to get the Drive out of the long leather tube it’s hidden away in
- Case options optimized for specific usages ---- a drawing portfolio for leads (and a 2mm variant if developed) would be very nice and something with appeal beyond gearheads and machinists and woodworkers
- a subset of the hardened bits (or à la carte purchasing) to fit the 8 empty slots in the case would be nice (or maybe 6 and two small accessories to go next to the scribing point? My OCD/demand for symmetry is showing)
- maybe a collaboration with Lee Valley who has two scalpel holders? I’m probably still going to get their wood-handled one, and a case which would hold all of my scalpel-based tools (aside from my Scalpeldashi) may yet happen (an upgrade from the X-Acto knife chest I bought when I was much younger and doing model-making)
Anyway, it’s a likely candidate for “new favourite tool”, and the Stubster and a small selection of tools for it is likely to go into my pocket…
Thanks for all that great feedback!, I am really happy you like it, makes it all worth while at the end of the day.
We did make a PEEK version early on but had to abandon that at the time however since we reworked the collets it might actually work now, I will give that some thought with an adaptor for 2mm graphite perhaps?
We are looking for a new supplier of bits at the moment, they have been frustrating to get right so far, but with getting someone new onboard we could offer a bigger range as you suggest, the hard part is finding someone reliable!
I really like the idea of the customised cases I agree with you it would match the lighter weight drawing set very nicely.
