The planets have aligned, our tardigrades gained sentience, I found my lucky pen, AND we’ve started shipping Kickstarter Fractal Vises!
The last of the components we were waiting for turned up a few weeks back and since then we’ve been busy building a huge stockpile of Fractal based goodies. This means, from today, we’re shipping as fast as our new water bear overlords will allow!
We are pretty overjoyed about this milestone as this campaign is genuinely mahoosive! It really was a full team effort to get everything ready, from purchasing every last part and machining tens of thousands of components to taking in over 5 tonnes of metal and building finished Fractal Vises. What a crazy ride!
Behind The Scenes
With that good news out the way, we wanted to give you all a little glimpse into what fulfilling 5000 orders actually looks like.
Welcome to one of our four (yes, FOUR) fractally storage containers. And yes, that is a solid wall of fractal bases on the left! With some expert manoeuvring and planning we’ve got all the components stored and ready to move to our workshop each week. Cramming in Fractal Vises and add-ons and foam and packaging required a bit of forethought and a very important clipboard, but we got it done! Bosh.
To Me, To You
With a team of five we were able to load the container with 12 pallets of components, or 572 cartons, in two and a half hours. And we did it in the gloomy English weather.
No one needed to go to the gym after this day, and we had to put Robin and his high-vis on bed rest! That’s just what happens when you move 5 tonnes of metal I guess. All in a day’s work!
The Midas Touch
As always we’ve enlisted the help of a local gold plater based right here in Yorkshire, and he’s done a cracking job making our solid steel fractal parts fit for a king. These golden nuggets of joy have been assembled by our very best, and you can check out the satisfying time-lapse below.
