Yes, you read that correctly. One of our original MetMo creations has finally made its comeback, with a brand-new look!
The Helico will launch on Monday the 18 July, time TBD.
Not only is Helico making a comeback, but we will be releasing 2 new versions! I know, I know…it’s a lot to take in.
What’s this new look you ask?
Here it is...
The black material you see is a Polyamide Nylon 12, which has allowed us to 3D print the outer gear profile, both with the classic herringbone profile and the new compact overlapping gear profile. The gold inserts are made from a High Tensile Brass that house 2 neodymium magnets to keep your Helico interlocked.
What's with the new design?
The Helico MK2 is improved in every way. We have taken the most tactile and satisfying features from the original design and enhanced them all. We had a lot of feedback from the original design, and we have listened to all of you incorporating the changes into this all-new Helico.
By utilising the latest in 3D printing technology, we have been able to bring Helico back to life after 2 years of endless samples and problems with suppliers combining the best parts of the original product.
We are aware we’re giving you a Helico that is quite a bit different from the original. However, this new design brings so much more to the table, and in our opinion, takes Helico to the next level.
New Features
This new material means the new Helico are more tactile, resulting in your inability to resist temptation and put them down. It also means they’re more surface friendly, as past users know they are often dropped, or more accurately flung, so this will allow for less dents and dings in your furniture.
One of the biggest requested changes is, this design incorporates 2 magnets, instead of the previous use of 1, which ultimately gives you more freedom and more ability to do more with your Helico. It makes it more fiddleable (definitely not a word).
Overall, our new 3D printed design has allowed us to create a Helico that can do more as an executive fidget desk toy, including the introduction of the new design of the Helico Knurl.
As CubeClub members, you will receive exclusive news of the exact time of the release of the new Helico on our website. For this release, we only have 100 Helico available, so we advise you all to be extremely ready!
Bringing Helico back
So why the long wait? We have been working on this one for a long time, our original manufacturer from the Kickstarter campaign went out of business, then after many failed attempts or overpriced quotes from home and overseas we were being forced down a road where we would have to have everything manufactured in the far east, which we felt was not what MetMo is about.
So, we turned to a new technology for manufacturing - 3D printing. This allowed us to fully manufacture in the UK and have full control over the quality produced. It also allowed us to explore some new options for the design and get the herringbone profile exactly how we wanted it to be, for maximum satisfaction.

Sales are limited to one set of the MK2 and MK2 - Knurl per customer. Any attempt to circumvent this will result in any and all of the offending orders being cancelled and no Helico for those orders will be shipped.
