It’s here! Thank you! I greatly appreciate it.

It is an amazing mechanism, and a wonderful device/toy.

I’ve already spun it enough that the bottom gear has made 1/4th of a revolution… it’s actually so well-machined that it will spin for a couple of seconds, which I find amazing (and a bit mesmerizing)

The one thing I was surprised at was that there isn’t a through-hole in the bottom to store the rod, or that there wasn’t a series of holes in the drive gears where every n revolutions they would synch up so that one could spin a bit, then lock things away.

It really makes me wish that such a mechanism could be used in a “real” tool to multiple torque (or speed).

Hi Will,

Thanks for posting a picture, it’s great to see the first Gear Train out in the wild! :star_struck:

You always have a way of reading our minds :face_with_monocle: something may or may not be in the works that’s along those very lines. We’ll have to see if it works out!

Will this is absolutely gorgeous! It’s looking lovely and shiny in the sun. As a note, has the post on the left backed out a little? It’s popping up a bit more than I’d expect (which stops the posts running parallel and can prevent the gears from meshing). You can tighten this up with a 2mm Allen key!

Sixteen thousand three hundred and eighty-four rotations might induce a little bit of backing out

I will check on that. Thanks!

I reckon I could do 8 because I’m fairly decent at chess and I also like spicy food :face_savoring_food:
