In Geoff's workshop we're able to bring our ideas to life. In his spare time he's using it for model engineering, but when we've got our MetMo hats on it's to the workshop we go!
When coming up with a new MetMo it all starts life as drawings, CAD files, and 3D printed prototypes, but once we're close we mosey over to Geoff's workshop to make a working prototype out of mild steel. We use mild steel because it's robust, durable and can be easily machined and welded. It's also comparatively cheap, and means we don't blow our development funds on fancy grade stainless steel (we save that for you lot!).
Having a prototype like this gives us the closest thing to the real product before we finalise the designs with our manufacturers, and it means we can discover any potential problems and really get a feel for how it would work.
All in all, Geoff spent 40 hours turning, milling, filing and fitting to get this beauty in our hands. You can watch the video below to see the whole process (and get another glimpse into Geoff's wonderland!).
