Next up in our ambassador lineup is Josh Fenn!
Here's his profile:
1. Tell us a little about yourself (home city, country, the type of content you make, etc.)
My name is Josh Fenn - I'm originally from Detroit, MI, USA but have lived in Portland, OR, USA for the past 8 years and love being in America's Pacific Northwest. I love creating YouTube content but you can usually find me out hiking and camping whenever I'm not in my home studio.
2. What is your niche/audience for your content?
I definitely have a more broad range of topics than is probably ideal for the algorithms but I love talking about any high quality or interesting gear. These days I'm mainly focused around Travel & Every Day Carry items but also talk regularly about Tech, Apparel, & Outdoor gear. My personal interests and needs are a moving target sometimes; I figure most of our community feels the same. I just do my best to lean in and discuss whatever it is I'm excited about at that time.
3. What made you want to collaborate with MetMo?
Before YouTube I studied graphic design and am someone who appreciates form as much as function. MetMo definitely seems to be speaking the same language - I'm a sucker for anything that has a very distinct design language but can also hold its own in terms of function.
4. Name your favourite gadget of all time
This feels like an impossible question for me, I'm terrible at picking a single favorite of anything. It feels like a bit of a copout (and maybe divisive) answer but I think I have to say the smartphone? Something so physically small has had such a huge impact on our daily lives - the fact we're all carrying around powerful pocket-sized computers is easily taken for granted and serves so many important functions.
5. What is your favourite MetMo and why?
Definitely the pocket driver! I use it all the time working in my home studio and still always appreciate the design every time I pick it up. It also helps that it's far more pleasant to use than just about anything else with the variety of grip positions.
6. Favourite YouTube channel and why?
Extremely tough call! Linus Tech Tips, Good Mythical Morning, Steve Wallis, The Iron Snail, Justin Outdoors, and Kara & Nate are all heavily in the rotation right now. I am definitely a YouTube viewer as much as I am a creator, I probably watch more YouTube than I do traditional media at this point.
7. The project you’re most proud of and why?
It's actually nothing I've ever posted on YouTube! I don't do much freelance video work these days but spent several years working with local cat foster shelters creating media for them. I'm a proud cat guy and always loved doing my part in helping the shelter cats find good homes.
8. If you could only have 1 tool for the rest of your life what would it be?
It'd have to be a multitool or else I think I'd have a really tough time, considering this it'd definitely be my Leatherman Wave+.
9. What’s one DIY skill you think everyone should learn?
The first thing that comes to mind would be general computer/tech troubleshooting knowledge. It seems like I grew up in a time where I'm sandwiched between age groups that don't really understand how computers work - A lot of older folks never took the time to learn and a lot of the younger people grew up with the "it just works" style of modern tech where they know how to use it but don't fully grasp how or why it works in the case of an issue.Outside of that - basic plumbing and woodworking have both been really great for DIY repairs and home projects. I'm someone who loves learning and tinkering and try to carry that spirit with me for whatever I'm trying to accomplish, even if I'm not an expert.
10. A random fact or your worst dad joke
The Michelin star/guide for restaurants was made by the same Michelin tire company to encourage drivers to use their cars, and wear down their tires, more often.
